Have not updated for a while, was busy taking care of Sarah last week, she was infected with the dreaded HFMD.
Prior to her infection, there was already a mini outbreak in her school. As we have no one else to take care of her, we decided to keep her in school. Last monday, while at work, we received a call in the late afternoon, from the school informing us that Sarah was running a temperature of 38℃. On reaching the school, we had a chat with her principal regarding her condition, she suspected that Sarah might be showing symptoms of the HFMD. We checked her tongue and saw something that looked like an ulcer. As there were no blisters and sores on her hand and feet, we decided not to send her to the doctor till the symptoms were more prominent. So we waited and waited. 2 days have passed, her temperature went down after the first night, she was jumping around happily at home for two days, there were no prominent blisters and sore on the hands and feet.
On the fourth day, we decided to bring her to the pediatrician to determine the exact cause. Upon through examination, she confirmed that Sarah was having a very mild form of the HFMD. Sarah was salivating more than usual, that was a sign. A sign of discomfort in her mouth due to the presence of ulcers and sore throat, the pain was discouraging her from swallowing her saliva. Apart from that, Dr Lee commented that she was very energetic and certainly did not look sick. We were told to come back for a review on the following monday, seven days after first showing symptoms of the infection.
So the two of us took turns to take leave throughout the week to take care of her. She was playing happily at home, dancing to her favourite videos. Despite her discomfort in the mouth, she was eating alot more than usual☺.
On Monday coming, Papa brought Sarah for the review and she was given the green light ✔ to return to school. What a busy week for us, however, we enjoyed taking care of her and got to spent lots of valuable quality time with her alone. She is growing up so fast, thats why we treasure every moment that we gets to spend with her.
Even though now that she is all well and free from the virus, the HFMD saga is not over yet. Papa is the current victim! ☹
